Huth's History

Before Jerry Huth developed the first automotive pipe bender in the 1950s, fitting exhaust pipes was a difficult job that was beyond the means of many shops. Mechanics had to cut and weld pipe sections, making small bends manually. By 1958, Huth had developed the first prototype of the portable pipe bender. Soon, Huth was supplying benders to shops across the country. Huth Benders continue to lead the field more than 50 years later due to ongoing research and development, a strong commitment to quality, and a responsiveness to the needs of a changing industry.

Tube & Pipe Bending

The value of portable, affordable tube and pipe benders was quickly evident when Huth first introduced them. With the increased number and variety of cars on the road in the last 50 years, that need has increased. With a Huth bender, it's not necessary to keep a variety of pre-bent pipes in inventory. With a few sizes of straight tubing on hand, you can quickly bend pipes for thousands of applications. You increase your profit margin and your customers don't have to wait for pre-bent pipes to be delivered.

Over the years, the value of a Huth bender has been realized for many other applications. Each year more and more Huth benders are supplied to businesses from small fabrication shops to full scale manufacturing. The number of products they are used for vary from athletic equipment to fire systems to building frames to motorcycle and ATV parts to railing systems to satellite dish arms – their applications are ENDLESS!

Ben Pearson's History

Ben Pearson started designing and manufacturing the pipe benders in 1973, shipping the first bender in 1975. Since then, thousands of Ben Pearson benders have been shipped to muffler shops across the United States as well as around the world. Many of the benders that were made and shipped in the very early years of Ben Pearson are still in use in shops today. The bender’s design process was a result of actual muffler shop owners detailing their needs and concepts that would offer them the convenient features they wanted and deliver consistent quality bends. The result was the introduction of Ben Pearson’s MC59 pipe bender.

The Ben Pearson MC59, quickly became one of the exhaust repair shops’ choice bender and is still recognized today as one of the best exhaust pipe benders in the industry. Ben Pearson’s benders have been utilized in most of the US exhaust muffler chains including Meineke Discount Muffler, Monro Muffler & Brake, Speedy Muffler, Car-X, Tuffy Muffler, American Car Care Centers and Merlin Muffler franchises, just to name a few.

In October 2008, Ben Pearson Tubemaster was acquired by Hartford Benders, Inc. and the two leading brands became part of the same company for the first time.  The combination of Ben Pearson and Huth delivers quality, American made products, supported by the highest level of customer service available anywhere.
